IGN.com learned that venerated developer SNK is crafting several games including Metal Slug Anthology for Wii, Nintendo's next-generation home console. The title will contain a compilation of classic Metal Slug games of which will make full-use of the unique controller. The anthology will contain Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5.
"Fans worldwide have been looking forward to our return to Nintendo platforms and what better way then to bring our complete Metal Slug arcade collection to Wii," SNK Playmore USA Corporation president Ben Herman told IGN. "The Wii controller will be used in a new and unique way that enhances the gameplay. Our fans have demanded that we support Nintendo platforms. Let the celebration begin."
Metal Slug was first released in 1996 for SNK's Neo-Geo console. It's a fast-paced 2D arcade shooter that has generated a large base of fans. More information on this compilation is expected to arrive at the Electronic Entertainment Expo on May 10.
