Sega has announced a sequel to the popular Nintendo DS title Sonic Rush, titled Sonic Rush Adventure.

The new game will carry over the much-loved 2-D gameplay from 2005's Sonic Rush, adding a touch-controlled 3-D "high seas adventure" where the stylus is used to steer, collect rings, perform stunts, and engage in ship-to-ship battles. Multiplayer competition in racing and mission-based battles will be available via both DS Download Play and online via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

Sonic Rush Adventure is set for release this autumn, and is being developed by Sega Studios.
