Game Freak's Pokemon director Junichi Masuda said in his latest blog entry that he would like and intends for people to be able to play and communicate internationally with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection portion of the next Pokemon titles Diamond and Pearl for Nintendo DS. Meanwhile, Masuda admits the game is still quite far from completion but assures they will make full use of all the DS unit's functions.
