Earlier today, Sony announced shipment numbers for North America and Japan at a combined 500k (400k and 100k respectively) for their November PlayStation 3 launch.
N-Sider contacted Nintendo about any problems the Wii launch may suffer, and they offered up an official statement:
Wii is on track to ship in Q4, Nintendo plans to ship 6 million systems to retailers around the world between its launch in the fourth quarter of 2006 and the end of its fiscal year on March 31, 2007.Nintendo is expected to release the exact launch date and price for North America on September 14th in New York City.
