Corporate Structure

Nintendo's corporate structure is like that of any other publicly traded company. Its board of directors, currently 12 in total, must answer to its general shareholders.

Divisions

President Satoru Iwata oversees nine internal divisions. These divisions concentrate on such areas as research & development, licensing, manufacturing, and administration. Each division has one to many departments.



Business Division

Entertainment Analysis & Development Division
Nintendo's primary software development resides in the EAD division. There are three departments - one for administration and two that contain the many talented software groups. The Software Planning Division is a new set of producers created by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata in order to free up Shigeru Miyamoto and other NCL producers from having to fly oversees to work with American and European developers creating first-party products for Nintendo. Quality Assurance Department
Previously termed "Super Mario Club", the Quality Assurance Department is no longer required for third-party releases on Nintendo hardware. It is however still used for all internally developed and published Nintendo software to assure that bugs, glitches and other issues are removed from hardware and software and furthermore, that it passes Nintendo's strict quality guidelines.

The Software Development Department consists of up to eight software development groups. Each group has one producer assigned to it and one to many assistant producers. Each group can have several teams meaning there will often be several games in development at one point in time. Each group is often flexible enough to work on software for both the home and portable consoles.
