Blue Lava Wireless, developer of mobile video games, announced it has appointed former Nintendo of America president Minoru Arakawa to its Board of Directors. Arakawa currently lives on the Hawaiian island of Maui.
"This appointment is a homecoming for me since I collaborated with Henk Rogers 15 years ago to introduce Tetris to the world via Nintendo's Game Boy," said Minoru Arakawa. "I'm proud to see that Blue Lava Wireless has expanded the success of Tetris to mobile phones and I'm eager to see what the next 15 years will bring us."
Parent company Blue Planet Software is headed by the infamous Henk Rogers, who originally gained the license to use Alexey Pajitnov's Tetris for mobile video games. Blue Planet is currently a 50 percent owner in The Tetris Company, managing the Tetris brand and licensing Tetris to companies worldwide.
Robert E. Lloyd has also been appointed to Blue Lava Wireless' board of directors. He previously served as as President and CEO of Data East, a developer and publisher of coin-operated video games which became Nintendo's first licensed independent publisher with revenues of $100 million.
